Conservation and habitat improvement are of great importance to the farm. A portion of the farm is enrolled in the National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Conservation Reserve Program, commonly known as CRP. This program is designed to encourage landowners to apply environmentally-friendly methods to their land in order to address soil, water and other natural resource concerns on their lands. This program works to reduce concerns such as soil erosion and sedimentation, improve water quality, create wildlife habitats, and enhance wetland and forest resources.
The farm is also enrolled in the NRCS' Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program (WHIP). This program is set up to help landowners who want to develop and improve wildlife on their property.
The attention that the land receives offers great rewards during hunting season with some of the best hunting in the nation. White-tailed deer, bobwhite quail, rabbits, duck and Canada geese are ample. Many trophy deer from the farm are becoming legendary as hunters retell their stories.
